Creativity as an excuse to teach a different gospel

It seems common sense to believe that twenty centuries of Catholicism have produced a consistent, firm, true, and therefore liberating moral doctrine. Of all the papal encyclicals published after the Second Vatican Council, “The Splendor of Truth” (Veritatis Splendor) by Saint John Paul II is key both to understanding the foundations of that doctrine and to combating the errors that haunt it. Among these errors is the heresy that the human conscience is not ultimately subject to the law of God, but is free to obey it or not depending on the circumstances, these circumstances, and not the divine will, being those that determine the moral judgment - and at the same time ecclesiastical - that our actions deserve. The law, in this heresy, would be nothing more than an ideal to achieve, but in reality it would be inaccessible to the majority and only acceptable to a select few, mainly those who end up on the altars as saints and blessed.

I will not deny that the grace of God acts in a more abundant and fruitful way in the souls whom God has wanted to adorn with the crown of the most excellent holiness, but there is no baptized person who does not receive sufficient grace to be able to be free from the scourge of living persistently practicing sin. Knowing all this, then, we cannot in any way listen to those who seek shortcuts that imply an obvious breach of God's commandments.
